Glad to hear you say that! Given the design objective of the amp...the two power settings and the DI features, to find that customers are in need of an attenuator would make me thing we failed!

On the other hand, I need to post the pic of the decible meeter from the Nashville Amp Expo....the Bambino racked up a staggering 120.2 Dbs' through a Green Back 4x12.

...those smiley things are growing on me.

that is exactly what I was going to suggest. I think the low volume tones in stackmode are great...biting, crisp! I love how many variations in tone the stackmode allows. I find more tones every time I turn this amp on. I am really impressed at how full and rich the 2 watt setting sounds. Very cool to hear that there are two options for the headphones.

The amp is amazing as a low volume solution and it also sounds incredible cranked in 8 watt mode!

Eric

I think you guys are going to dig seeing how the complete Bambino line fleshes out.

Bambino:
0.2 Watts (Headphones)
2 Watts
8 Watts

Bambino Grande (coming in January):
14 Watts
20 Watts

Bambino Diablo (working name...coming ????)
uh...I've said too much already.

See, more frickin smilies....I used to hate those things.

Cool! I actually use an attenuator with the Bambino in 8 Watt mode, because very good things happen when the 6AQ5's start getting pushed. Very chimey 6V6-like grind and no fizz. It's VERY sweet.

I've had about a month with the combo now. I don't use stack mode much - doing so loses some of the dynamic range and openness that I like. But the sound of that bright channel is so nice. Crank it to 5 or more and the mids melt, the bass saturates, and the highs ring. Pick softly and every note is clearly defined even with complex intervals. Pick harder and it becomes very tube sounding. Either way there's a lot of sustain and touch responsiveness.

The speaker in the combo reproduces all this beautifully. The only problem is even at two watts my ears ring. And it gets even more headroom and openness at 8 watts, which frankly is loud as hell.

Fortunately it sounds nearly as good through the headphone and line outs!

The only thing missing is an effects loop. Wish it had it for time based effects. I still plan to route the line out through these and into the mixer. I suspect this will sound great. I just haven't gotten around to it as the thing is just too much fun going straight from the guitar into the amp.

Yea, StackMode does have more compression...a nice balance to the Norm/Bright channels which are very fast and articulate. StackMode can still get pleanty barky, but I know what you are saying.

Thanks for the comments.

Best,

I like all the modes

Let a buddy borrow it for some recording he's doing, he loves it and I'm really missing it.

I would really like a footswitch for it, can any of the 1/4" two button marshall ones work for the Bambino or ETA for a Reason footswitch.

Right on!

Yea, the switching circuit is designed around an off the shelf Marshall style footswitch. It uses a TRS (stereo) 1/4" connection. The Reason Switches are coming soon...I know that I've been saying that for a while, but as soon as I can get guys to stop buying, we can divert some attention to that project. Kidding of course...keep it up fellas!

If you'd like to know where to get blank footswitch, send me a PM and I'll get you the part number. I'll send an overlay panel to anyone who purchased a Bambino prior to us releasing the footswitch.

Best,

The stack mode has some nice sounds - I've been playing with it more. Its got more knobs and is a little trickier to dial in.

Cool! I'm glad. StackMode is the gift that keeps on giving. Pleanty of tones and textures to mine there.

Best,

Ugh... So Grande is not going to be the same amp with added features like effects out etc? Any thought of packaging those into the low powered Bambino itself?

The Grande will have added power, reverb and an effects loop with a series/parallel switch. It may have a simplified line out, but not one as sophisticated the the 8watter.

There is not room in the 8watter for a loop or verb....alot of parts on the line out.

Thanks for asking.

Hi Anthony, thanks for that clarification. Sorry to hear this. Loop + verb in the 2W/8W package size would have been great. I do understand the space challenge though. How much larger will the Grande cab be compared to the regular Bambino? All the best.

I gig and record with this amp a lot. And you know what? I don't miss reverb with this amp at all. In fact, even though I have great pedals on my board, more often than not, I don't use them with the Bambino, preferring to simply plug straight into the amp and let it do its magic organically. When I bring this amp to a gig, my rig usually consists of my guitar(s), the Bambino, the Reason foot switch, a tuner, and a cab. That's it. I don't miss my pedals, though I will occasionally bring a clean booster with me to slam the front-end with gain.

The head will be the same size. Believe it or not, the loop and verb and a simple DI out all combined take up less space than the Bambino (8watt) DI/Headphone section.

The combo will be a bit wider - 22" instead of 20 and I think an extra 1.5" of height.

Thanks for asking,
