CP Thornton Fusion Review

I just unpacked my new guitar, a CP Thornton Fusion. I picked the Creme w/ Mint pickguard. My first impressions are that the guitar balances better standing up than any Strat I've ever played, its lightweight and has a great tone unplugged. What sets this guitar apart is the neck. The finish is so perfect ont the dark amber colored mapled neck, it feels VERY slick, its probably THE best feeling neck I've ever played bar none. The frets are perfectly polished, bends notes effortlessly. The guitar is so ergonomic that I've noticed something different that I do when I play Strats. I've noticed that I have a tendancy to lean the body in towards my body to get a better "angle of attack" while playing aggressively. The fusion is a very cool design, I would highly recommend trying one out. I've had ALOT of Strats over the years and this one plays better, sounds better, and is more comfortable than any other I've played. CP Thornton has definately learned to build a better mousetrap!

Could you tell us a bit more about the neck contour? Not much info about that on his site.

Love the look of that instrument, and the creme is especially swank!

Fusion Neck

Yes, The neck is super sweet and is my fav part of the guitar. Its a very comfy C shape, its not like a Fender or Gibson so I really can't describe it with something familiar to you. It is unique, yet it seems like a familiar shape. Its a flat radius, so the guitar bends easily and has the lowest action of all guitars.

Envy, envy, envy!!! Vibrolucky, you a happylucky man!!!

Enharmonic,
I have a Cp Thornton Elite. Mine has a 1 3/4" nut and I believe the fusions are all 1 11/16 thus far. Same shape though.
The comparison I would draw is to Goodall acoustics. Most of these are
1 3/4", but the profile is very, very similar.

Congrats, Stratman57. I sent an e-mail to Chuck and reserved a place in the next (July) batch.

Very cool. Does it sound just like a Strat, or does it have it's own thing going on?

Fusion Out Strats' my Strat!

The Fusion sounds exactly like a Strat.....I was a little worried before I played it, but once you hear it....Oh Man! it has the Strat Quack going on big time.

It sounds more like a Strat than my 1960 Strat with a Brazillian Rosewood neck. My Strat is nice, but it does not cut through like this one.

If you dig Hendrix and SRV, you will love the Fusion.

I have sold about five guitars recently and only have three guitars, two of which are CP Thorntons. I absolutely love them.

You will crap yourself when feel the neck. I am VERY Picky about setup and such, this guitar has a perfect setup with low action, no buzzing and lots of sustain. The chording is different from any other guitar I've ever owned. You really can hear all the individual notes sing through.

I cannot enough about these guitars.

Nuff'said

I see you got the one shown on their site. Very beautiful! I was very tempted to get that one.

What pickups are in there?

How's the bridge for fluidity and intonation stability?

The Fusion is starting to pique my interest.

Anyone in Los Angeles have one that I could check out?

I can't decide between the vintage cream of the white. I like them both. What is very nice is that Chuck is going to make mine with a 1 3/4" nut width.
He figures the next Fusion batch will ship in November.

fusion stuff

I really liked the look of the vintage cream, it looks better in person!

The mint guard really contrasts nicely, I think she will age very well. Its a keeper.

BTW. It was shipped to me from Maine to Georgia, and arrived IN TUNE!

I love the way it plays, the neck is soooo good, you really have to try one to beleive it.

Keep some tissue handy when you unpack it.

I just recieved my s/s/h today and am stoked!
This system whith the tone, volume and pup selector makes perfect sense.

Although I am not used to the shape of the trem bar, after I adjusted the bridge to float, my hand fit perfectly into the bars curve. Amazing! What detail!
I'm off to get to know her more.
